Dressing for extreme temperatures and staying stylish can be a challenge. When the mercury climbs past 90 you can only remove so much clothing and still walk in polite company. Sometimes you can get a little relief by taking a cold shower or ducking into a cafe with AC. The heat can definitely suck the very life out of us and limit our fashion choices but it doesn’t mean that we have to sacrifice style. Here are six ways to beat the heat with style!
~Your Hair Style Matters. Pull it back into a bun or ponytail, push it back with a colorful scarf or pile it under a hat. When the humidity reaches a boiling point any hair clinging to the back of your neck or forehead is annoying.
~The Sweaty Foot Problem. Cut out shoes, perforated shoes and cloth shoes are all good choices. Flip flops might seem like a good idea but your feet will suffer twice as much in the heat. First, there is no support so your feet will swell and ache after a day walking on scorching sidewalks. Second, there are better looking choices.
Canvas sneakers are a one but don’t wear them without cotton peds. If you do go without some sort of cotton or wicking socks your feet are likely swell thus causing blisters when your feet rub against the canvas of your sneak.
~Wear a hat. The results are in–-nothing will keep you cooler than a light colored hat. If you want extra protection you can get your hat with SPF. You don’t necessarily need to find one with a wide brim just make sure that it is breathable and covers your forehead and eyes. That said when it is a scorcher of a day the wider the brim the better.
~Think cotton, think linen, think loose—repeat.
