The good news in fashion has been the rise of the comfort shoe. With fashion editorials anointing the sneaker paired with anything as the hipster look we have been liberated from the idea that to truly dress properly we must wear heels. Alleluia those days are behind us now! However, before you grab a 10 gallon garbage bag to rid yourself of your less than agreeable heels you still need some of them. Not the ones that make you want to cut your feet off after a long day—you can pitch those. I am talking about the ones that you will want to wear with certain outfits to certain events. Anything that causes any foot pain should be expelled from your wardrobe pronto!
There is more good news. With the popularity of comfort shoes comes a much better selection of flats. Here are a few of my favorites.
There is nothing like cork for making shoes comfortable. Not only are these incredibly comfortable but they are wonderful walking shoes as well. I bought these recently and have walked miles in them without the least bit of discomfort. The Mykonos is also available at Citi Shoes in San Francisco
Nothing says summer like a pair of white sandals! If white is not your thing the Anica is also available in 5 other colors.
If you are attending a fancy garden party this summer there dis no need to wear heels. Take a look at these splashy sandals instead.
The Tutsi is available in 11 colors and is described as “impossibly comfortable.” Something we only wish for in all of our shoes.
If you are looking for a little more color check out these suede slides by Tory Burch.
Theses beauties by M.Gemi are available in 9 colors.
Remember to always try on your shoes in the afternoon when your feet are a little larger. And never buy shoes that are not returnable if you have not tried them on before.
